Living Oasis in South Woodford opened on 6th March 2010 as one of a new chain of Christian retailers in the UK which has taken over from most of the former Wesley Owen bookshops.
The Bookroom is situated in a light, modern ground floor reception area, just inside the main entrance of the London City Mission Head Office. We are just a few yards from Tower Bridge. The primary purpose of the Bookroom is to enable LCM Missionaries to purchase their requirements. However we also welcome any other customers.
Mission Statement The London City mission was founded in 1835 to make the Gospel known to the inhabitants of London, especially the poor. The Mission is at the forefront of evangelism in inner-city areas. LCM Missionaries go to the people: they meet them in the community, the workplace, schools, hospitals and on the streets.
We minister to the whole person, giving practical help, as well as introducing them to the knowledge of God in Christ. David Nasmith, the founder of City Missions, expressed our motivation for then and now in these words: "Let the salvation of souls be your chief, your only end".
