Sermons and Prayers of Walter Brueggemann
Anna Carter Florence (Editor)
Category: Preaching Any book from Walter Brueggemann is almost guaranteed to be a treat and this is no exception. Brueggemann is a gifted communicator with a mind steeped in scripture - his writing conveys a depth of scholarship that draws his readers in and, just as importantly, challenges and sends them out again to engage with the world. These sermons and prayers have been transcribed from live presentations, each one dated and annotated to set the original context, and you'll need a Bible handy as you read through them. Whilst you may not be able to reuse them directly in your own preaching, they'll certainly provide inspiration - they're an ideal basis for a series of daily devotional readings, for example, bursting with an intense, dynamic and urgent spirituality: God's word is for us, now. This is not dust and ashes but living water, breath and life, fire and spirit: read and be transformed. Phil Groom, July 2004 Phil Groom is this site's Webmaster and Reviews Editor.
