The Poet's Christ
An anthology of poetry about Jesus
David Winter
Category: Prayer and Poetry
Previously published as The Master Haunter, this is an anthology of poetry both about Jesus and resulting from reflection on the mystery of Jesus. There are some well-known pieces by Ted Hughes, Chaucer and W.H. Auden but also some lesser known gems. David Winter was an English teacher before becoming Head of Religious Broadcasting at the BBC. You may have heard him on Radio 4's Thought for the Day, or read his work in the Church Times. He supplies an interesting introduction to each section of the anthology which range from 'The Birth' through 'The Mystery of the Cross' and 'The Christ of Human Experience' to 'Beyond the Present'. A great book to keep handy to dip into and pause for thought — but sadly, as with too many books, now out of print.
