Situated within the Cathedral building, the Bookstall offers a wide range of religious and secular publications appealing to a large local congregation and the many visitors and tourists throughout the year.
Current religious bestsellers are always displayed and there is a good range of bibles, prayer books and books to appeal to young people of all ages. The range of high quality greetings cards for religious and other occasions is acknowledged as the best in the district.
The associated Gift Shop is located nearby in the Chapter House. It stocks a good range of CDs and audio cassettes, particularly of choral and organ music, amongst a wide and varied selection of religious items, ornaments, jewellery and other gift merchandise.
Mission Statement The Cathedral Bookstall and Gift Shop operate with predominantly voluntary helpers as part of the Cathedral's 'Ministry of Welcome' to the local congregation and visitors from far and wide. We hope to provide a relaxing environment to complement the experience of a visit to this historic place of worship dedicated to the martyrdom of Alban, and to offer support, information, inspiration and guidance.

Relocated from their former premises on Oak Street in October 2011, St Denys' Bookshop may now be found in the basement of the Manchester Cathedral Visitor Centre.
From a report on the Diocesan website:
New chapter for St Denys' Published: 03 November 2011
The basement of Manchester Cathedral Visitor Centre is now home to St Denys' Bookshop, an independent store providing theological books and church supplies run by Penny Glover and Sue Usher.
The store has just moved from Oak Street in the Northern Quarter to a location at the heart of the Christian community and, hopefully, a lot easier for people to find.
So what has been involved in the move? Packing up and transporting stock; gutting and painting the new location; moving in fittings and shelves; displaying stock in an accessible and attractive manner; ensuring that customers and suppliers know about the change of location - all to be done at one of the busiest times of the year while trying to maintain a service for as long as logistically possible...
Also Available Church requisites; Local interest books.
