Wellspring Books (Pilgrims Hall Bookshop), Brentwood
The Revd Andy Neale writes:
We are delighted to see a Christian bookshop up and running in Brentwood after an absence of four years or so. The previous shop, which belonged to the Southend Christian Bookshop chain, was situated at one end of the High Street and incorporated a small coffee shop. However, the council had a road widening scheme and the building went the way of all flesh!
Nevertheless, the LORD had other plans and the manager of the shop joined the residential team at Pilgrims Hall and the dream remained alive.
Pilgrims Hall is a non-denominational Christian Community seeking to support the work of churches as a resource in all number of ways. Amongst that has been the opening of Rendezvous, a larger version of the coffee shop, with the bookshop following on its heels a while later.
The shop runs in conjunction with Southend Christian Bookshop with some familiar faces behind the counter as well as welcome newcomers too.

Windflower Books has been in existence since 2007 as a small scale concern selling secondhand and remaindered theological books on the internet, supplying bookstalls for communities and events and publishing small runs of specialist material.
2012 sees a change in the Windflower venture as we seek to supply the needs of individuals, churches and communities in the South West who have lost their own local Christian Bookshops.
From a small start we hope to develop a system of bespoke bookselling tailored to the specific needs of each community we are working with. We are in the process of negotiating our first sites for enhanced bookstalls in local churches. Keep checking our blog, our Facebook page (Windflower Books) or our Twitter feed (windflowerbooks) for further details...

Easy to find! Castle Road is about a mile and a half from the town centre, between the Embankment and Goldington Road. The Word is on the corner of Denmark Street, just a couple of streets away from the Jaffa Orchard, a coffee and gift shop run by people from Russell Park Baptist Church: if you're in Bedford, why not combine a visit to the river, a coffee and a visit to us?
The Word is part of King's Church, Cockermouth, and offers a service to Christians in the area, a contact point for King's Church and a lighted window to the world.
All books, cards and gifts have a Christian message.
There is a creche area, baby changing facilities and seating for weary travellers requiring free refreshments. Second hand books sell for less than a pound.
Mission Statement The volunteer staff of the Word bookshop all seek to follow the aim of King's Church which is to love God, become more like Jesus and to share His love with the world.
WORDWISE is the Christian resource centre for all the churches in the Kingsbridge area. As well as selling everything a Christian might need, from books, Bibles, prayer readings, plus a large selection of second hand books, we also sell gifts, fine art prints, CDs, and many other items which you can find from accessing our website, www.wordwise-kingsbridge.co.uk
We also have a very friendly coffee shop where you can relax, chat or read the notices about events in many of the 29 churches in the Kingsbridge District Churches Together area. If we don't have what you need, we can find it very quickly for you.
