Food For Thought opened its door in 1986 as a Christian witness on the High St in Clay Cross in North Derbyshire. The shop is independently owned by Holmgate Evangelical Church and has a full time manager. It has two sections, the front being a bookshop selling a wide selection of Christian books, from biographies to children's books and reading notes to Christian living etc. We also stock a wide range of greeting cards and gifts along with a display of local Christian artwork.
To the back of the building is a cosy coffee shop where you can relax with a homemade cake, snack and a drink. You can have a quiet time or chat and make new friends, the choice is yours.
The shop has developed the line 'more than just a bookshop' with pastoral care being high on its list of priorities.
The shop is available to bring a stall to any Christian or secular event and takes regular bookings from around the area.

Lisa Davies, wife of the Cromer Baptist pastor, used to manage the Christian book section of the Blytheswood Charity Shop in Cromer. When the lease came to an end, Blytheswood decided to close the shop, but Lisa wanted to keep a Christian retail presence in the town, so she set up Shiloah Books in August in a shop which had just become vacant opposite the Baptist Church...

The Shop That Never Was This shop was expected to become part of the Living Oasis Christian retail chain in 2010 as part of its takeover of most of the former Wesley Owen bookshops. Unfortunately Living Oasis were unable to secure a lease on the former Wesley Owen premises: plans to open in Croydon were put on hold and finally aborted when NCT entered administration in 2011.
